Fall favorites

When you're ready to change your decor to capture the fall season, here are some products to inspire you for your indoor rooms or outdoor spaces.

Bench: An outdoor bench of FSC certified woods is both "green" and useful.  Use it outside your entry, back door, or even just inside. Tuck some pumpkins underneath for fall, add some outdoor pillows, and you have welcoming, functional decor.

Lighting:  A great way to keep using your outdoor spaces in cooler weather is to add floor and table lamps. This one from Amazon,  is rated for use outdoors. With a natural shade and an organic shape, it's ideal for most exterior styles and even works well in a casual indoor space.

Candles: One of my favorite ways to add ambiance to any space is with candles.  Since safety is always my concern inside, I often place candles in a glass hurricane or metal lantern, rather than on a candlestick. Outdoors I'm less concerned and watch them carefully. With the availability of lower cost and realistic looking flameless candles - some with battery timers and remote controls - you can have safety and ambiance anywhere!

Throw: Cozy up in a chair, on the bed, outdoors or at a ball game. These throws are easy care acrylic in a luxurious weave.  Available from A Touch of Tradition in six great colors.

Tabletop: These stainless bowls from Crate & Barrel are sleek and recyclable. Use for serving, snacking, indoors and out.  I add floating candles for a late afternoon barbecue and flowers when I have a festive dinner or event.

Mirror:  I love to add mirrors in rooms that lose daylight quickly. Set on the wall behind a table lamp, or on the floor to capture the light from a window, they also add architectural elements to a room.  I've added them outdoors (resin only) to capture sunset and reflect it back onto the table and chairs.  This mirror from Ballard Designs is ideal for either use in a covered area outdoors.
