Favorites from retail sales

When you just need something new, or want  to replace something outdated, or to give a fun gift to someone, it's a good idea to check online. Google is a wonderful thing. You can find so many items and easily compare prices so you can make the best decision on what to get.   These are my favorites – all on sale in February – at West Elm - that are fun, useful, practical, and aesthetically beautiful.  In fact, my clients for whom I have completed kitchen and bath remodels receive items like this all the time.

A composter. Lots of municipalities are providing compost services for all of your food scraps. If yours doesn't, and you don't want to add to the landfill, check this out.  I personally have a Vermiculture system in my backyard and my earthworms eat all of my food scraps. Even if you don't like the earthworm idea, and no, they don't smell, this is a great idea because you can add the compost to your garden and enrich the soil. Even to grow herbs in little terra-cotta pots or reuse cans and grow them on the counter is fabulous if you like to cook. Adding compost will be awesome for the plants.

Food storage. I personally think glass is better than plastic -BPA free or not. These are attractive enough to leave out all the time, or store them in the pantry where you can enjoy how organized it is. Then of course, you don't have to dig to the back to find the expired package of pasta, or the little bugs that come when food gets rancid.

Accessory storage. In the kitchen and in the bath all of the things you need daily make your counters cluttered. This is a great ceramic storage solution that looks as good in a kitchen with scrubbers  and sponges as it does in the bathroom with toothbrushes and soaps.

Lighting. It's always a great idea to take advantage of new light fixtures to update your space. The technology is changing so quickly, the ease of accessing fabulous pricing and finding something thst looks cool is everywhere.
