Holiday ideas.

With Christmas just ahead, many of you are planning your holiday decor now. Holidays are a time to add glamour or bring home-made warmth to your home. Whether you have a Manhattan penthouse or an Aspen cottage, you can use one of these ideas, or combine a few, to create wonderful, celebratory decor for the holidays. Take a look at these ideas and accessories:

1)  Use mercury glass candles as a table centerpiece, on the mantle, or on a credenza. These are from Ballard Designs. Great for any decor from old-world to modern!

2) Place large pine cones on shelves, tabletops, or create your own table top tree or wreaths.

3) Hang boxwood wreaths indoors on doors, shutters, and over your fireplace.  Try using them flat as centerpieces for a large-scale candle in a hurricane glass. They're faux but look great for many years of use.

4) Set your table with affordable china. Check out this elegant silver rimmed dish set from Mikasa. You can use them year-round for special dinners and dress up for holidays with a great runner, napkins and centerpiece.

5) Tuck simple white napkins into these glamorous snowball shaped napkin rings.

6) Embroidered linen napkins add a festive touch to your holiday table.

7)  Use mercury glass ornaments on the tree, hanging from ribbon in a tall doorway, tucked into a fireplace swag, or gathered in glass bowl on the table.

8)  Make or purchase small wreaths that you can place on shelves to make them festive.

9) Rather than a traditional red and green theme, try gold and silver.

10) Simple and affordable, use wine glasses for water, wine, or floating a candle or flower!
