Simple decor works well for holidays.

Most people love to create a festive setting for their family during the holidays. However, with work, children, relatives, gift-shopping and everything else, finding time to do it can be challenging.  Here are three simple things to add to your existing decor - you might have to move some things around - that will save time and create a beautiful display.

1. Add string lights. Here, they are spread flat on a buffet and plugged into a $10 outlet timer so they go on and off automatically.

2. Bring out your candlesticks.  Combine what you already have, glass, wood and metal. Fill them with candles (these are flameless).  Be sure to vary heights for interest.

3. Add greens. Whether you prefer real or faux, simply filling in spaces and covering the cord is enough.
