Weekend Update

Need a quick refresh for your home?  When seasons change is the perfect time.  I'll post ideas here so you can take your pick in where to start!

1). Banish winter and update your mantle.  Take down the art and swap for another piece in your house. Lean large framed photos instead. Bright yet subtle mercury glass adds a metallic glint that's fresh and great year round. Try emptying it up everything. Maybe it just needs to be playing during the summer.

2) Nothing is better than curb appeal. How about door paint? A couple of potted plants look great. Add a bench. And you're done.

Change your lighting. If you can't change your fixture then install a plug in or in wall dimmer switch.

Improve your faucet. Get better water flow, a new style, and more efficiency for under hundred dollars at Home Depot. Quick and easy to replace especially those by Kohler where they are designed to be installed by the homeowner.

Paint something!  An old chair, your stair rails, the back of your bookcase, your front door, even the light fixture hanging in your entry. Takes only a couple of hours and voila  a new look.

Organize your pantry. Or pick a space it's important, like your garage your office. Just do one and the weekend completion will makes you happy all year.

Add architectural detail. Put new moldings around your door, and a chair rail to the dining room, trim out a window. For under two dollars a linear foot, you can get some beautiful moldings at the big box hardware stores.
