5 modern design favorites for February

Check out these great design elements for modern interiors.

1) LED desk lamp:  Sleek, sophisticated and energy conscious.  The low profile fits well furniture that may have dual function...your counter-top/desk in the kitchen, the hutch/desk in the living room, and even a shallow desk in a closet or hallway niche.   The bright, white LED is great to read by or use as background light for computer work.

2) Dining chair.  An updated version of synthetic wicker for outdoor and patio dining. Instead of a dark, thick weave, this creamy ivory is tightly wound over the metal frame for a lighter look and feel.  Great combined with glass tabletops on a small apartment balcony or with a dark metal table poolside.

3) Owl wallcovering.  This fun and interesting wallcovering looks great in a traditional living room as well as a modernist space. Made in England on non-woven paper with non-toxic inks. A great look and an eco-friendly product.

4) Planters by IKEA.  A great design at a great price. The variety of sizes and geometric ribbing on these ceramic planters make these ideal for many indoor and outdoor uses.  Having used these for several years I can attest to their durability and 'fit' with multiple styles.

5) Pendant light from bottles.  Check out this gorgeous blue-hued pendant made from 2 liter water bottles. The bottles are sandblasted to obtain the color, and the resulting texture looks great with a compact fluorescent bulb inside
